Wank

A couple of years ago, we wrote about Wank's apparently phenomenal deal with Madonna's Maverick Records. The Anaheim foursome released “Get a Grip (on Yourself),” graced MTV for a little while, toured, and then . . . and then seemingly disappeared.

We now know the band broke up amicably in the summer of 1999. “It was time for us to go our separate ways. We'd been together off and on with different names since 1986,” says singer Bobby Amodeo who, along with his brother Spider (Wank's drummer) and manager Ron Kauffman, have founded a new management company called, appropriately, Amodeo, Kauffman, and Amodeo. Their roster thus far includes Jay Buchanan, Foxy and All the Madmen. Bobby hasn't stopped playing, though. He and his brother have formed a new band called Adult Video. In February, Bobby Amodeo was diagnosed with leukemia. He went through chemotherapy, and the cancer has been in remission for two months. He says it inspires him to accomplish more.

“I'm just happy to be alive,” he says.
