No matter what your opinion of the films may be (like most people, I'm very aware of the fact that both Cars and Car 2 are responsible for some very polarizing opinions), the new land being created in California Adventure based on the films is looking pretty damn awesome.

Cars Land won't debut until sometime in summer 2012 (no solid date has been announced yet), but the progress going on beyond the barriers in California Adventure has kept park goers both guessing and intrigued. It's hard not to notice the enormous Radiator Springs backdrop from any one spot in the park; that alone may make the structure more iconic than The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror or Mickey's Fun Wheel.
Will Cars Land become the “face” of California Adventure when it opens next year? Possibly.
Last weekend, construction workers installed another piece of the puzzle: the Leaning Tower of Tires in front of Luigi's Casa della Tires.

Kathy Mangum, Executive Producer & Vice President of Walt Disney Imagineering, stated, “It's so exciting to see the site get one step closer to completion every day and I continue to be amazed at all the work our talented team has done to make Cars Land a reality at Disney California Adventure park.”
She went on to say the new land's construction appears to be right on track… no pun intended. “We're now testing all the rides, completing primary construction and installing major show pieces.”
Production designer Cathy Ritenour was responsible for overseeing the tower's fabrication and installation. Here's a video of Ritenour talking a little bit about the process of bringing the Leaning Tower of Tires to life in the park.
