Benjamin Felix Sanchez Held in Murder of Estranged Wife and Wounding of Her Lover

A Santa Ana man has been charged with first-degree murder and other felonies in Riverside County for the fatal shooting of his estranged wife and wounding of her lover.

Benjamin Felix Sanchez, 45, was arrested hours after Saturday's violence in the woman's Corona home.

Corona police officers responded to a 4:20 p.m. call of an assault at Yara Sanchez's residence, but when cops arrived they found Victor Bermudez, 26, of Huntington Park, lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. Next came the discovery of Yara Sanchez, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bermudez was taken to a hospital, where he underwent surgery and was later listed in stable condition.

As Corona investigators began a search for Benjamin Felix, he turned himself in to Santa Ana police. He was then transferred to Riverside County, where he is being held without bail.
