White Elephant Mix: Moonshine and the Drugs

This year, a few OC/LB bands have come together to provide us with a smokin' holiday soundtrack called the White Elephant Mix. Eclectic Long Beach rockers Moonshine and the Drugs sing “Sloppy Joe Santa” about Old Saint Nick smoking weed and drinking brandy–just like you always knew a guy with that stressful a job would do. Band member Rick Robbins tells us his favorite personal Christmas memory, and it's a holiday classic in its own right.

Moonshine and the Drugs, consisting of Robbins, Matthew Edwall, Greg Hurst, Danny Duran and Tony Trauttz, also have shared with us a video of a rehearsal for their song “New Frontier” from their self-titled album. This non-Santa-related tune features lead singer Edwall belting out heartfelt and vocals over crashing cymbals, pounding drums and a melody that straddles the line between catchy and cacophonous. It's your first great Christmas present this year.

Don't fret, you'll be covered with Christmas cheer as you listen to our twelve local artists jingling their bells here
