The Five Most Thankful Songs to Play this Thanksgiving

With Thanksgiving looming ever closer, we're reminded once again to partake in togetherness and reflect on all we have this year to be thankful for. We at the Weekly find the best way to express such feelings is through sharing the joy of music. There's nothing better than connecting with a celebrated artist in a moment of thankfulness--especially when they decide to go on and on about it. With that in mind, here's our choices for the 5 most thankful songs to play this Thanksgiving!

Sly and the Family Stone - "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)"1969

Starting things off, we have Sly and the Family Stone's "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)." Not only is "Thank You" a quintessential groundbreaking song in the world of funk, but one of the most curiously and refreshingly honest self-referential songs of the time. With direct references to previous hits, the song works as a fun victory lap for the band and longtime fans alike.

Adam Sandler - "The Thanksgiving Song"1993

While funny-man Sandler's musical endeavors are associated most closely with his "The Chanukah Song," that wasn't his first foray into capturing seasonal magic. His 1993 radio hit "The Thanksgiving Song" tied his love of eating turkey with his affection for non sequiturs and set the tone for a song-writing formula of off-the-wall delight. One year later, Sandler returned to singing about the holiday,

only this time it was while channeling Bruce Springsteen

Boyz II Men - "Thank You"1994

One could make a case for Boyz II Men being the most thankful group of all time. Not only did they record the wonderfully harmonized 1995 track "Thank You," they even went as far as to name their 1995 tour after the song. But that wasn't enough thanks for the group, as they went on to record a single called "Thank You in Advance" six years later. Hey guys, you're welcome!

Alanis Morissette - "Thank U"1998

Probably the most famous image of thankfulness is music is Alanis Morissette's nude and grateful video for "Thank U." Recorded after a peaceful trip to India, the song was a far cry from the angst-driven

Jagged Little Pill

Morissette many had come to expect. Here, she thanks India, terror, disillusionment, frailty, consequence, silence, providence, nothingness and clarity. It's a solid list, and we at the

encourages you and your families to sing what you're thankful for this year as well. Clothes optional, but encouraged.

Nicole Westbrook - "It's Thanksgiving"2012

Perhaps you recall production team Ark Music Factory's previous monster hit, Rebecca Black's "Friday?" Well, they've taken their talents into the seasonal domain with Nicole Westbrook's "It's Thanksgiving." While this new song continues in "Friday's" fun tradition of celebrating the passage of time, "It's Thanksgiving" ups the ante by accentuating the importance of how Thanksgiving is the one day Westbrook has been waiting all year for. We at the

are sad to inform Ms. Westbrook that, according to her calendar in the video, she's missed Thanksgiving this year by about a week.
