The Black Keys and RZA's New Fish-Slapping Music Video Directed By OC Native

On Nov. 2, Man with the Iron Fists directed by RZA will head to theaters infused with so much unnecessarily/necessary violence and highly choreographed fight scenes, Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino will just have to tip their hats. The movie stars Russell Crowe, Cung Le and Lucy Liu as they fight over gold.  And as much anticipation there is surrounding RZA's tribute to Kung Fu, there is just as much excitement around the soundtrack, which features The Black Keys, RZA, Kanye West and Talib Kweli.

In the spirit of the movie, The Black Keys and RZA's new music video for “The Baddest Man Alive” features an over-the-top fight scene over a fortune cookie.  There are arms being pulled out of sockets, chopsticks impaling foreheads and RZA slapping Dan Auerbach in the face with a fish.  Yes, a fish.  It's funny, because no matter how hard Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney try to fend off RZA for the fortune cookie, they just never seem like they have a chance.  RZA is a bad man.

“Spit in a crocodiles face,” Rza raps, “Have a menage-a-tois with two female apes.”  Later he says, “I tell a great white shark to brush his teeth.”
Clearly, a track featuring legends like RZA and The Black Keys should be enough of a reason to love this video.  But we have another one for you.  The director is Chris Marrs Piliero — an OC native.  Yes, he was born in the Bronx, but the OC is claiming this up-and-coming director.  And this isn't his first go around with The Black Keys.  In 2010, Piliero won MTV VMA Breakthrough Video for directing The Black Keys' smash, “Tighten Up.” Piliero went to Chapman University, and he even directed a Britney Spears' video.  Wow, I would love to hear that story.  So watch the video and find out who really is “The Baddest Man Alive.”
