At age 19, Matrie was signed to Motown Records and recorded with her mentor Rick James. Her many hits included “Lovergirl,” “Fire and Desire,” and “I'm A Sucker For Your Love.” She will be forever missed and always remembered as one of the first white artists to break into the funk/soul scene.The cause of death has not been reported yet–please stay tuned to as this sad story unfolds.
