NAMM showcases myriad musical instruments and gear but the guitar, as it rightfully should, reigns supreme. So, on Saturday at the overloaded Anaheim Convention Center, no appearance caused a greater commotion than Slash's--because, let's face it, he's one of the last true guitar gods. He's a top hat wearing, cig smoking, bourbon swilling icon. Slash's Guns N' Roses contributions compare with anything in the upper echelon of hard rock awesomeness and his work with Velvet Revolver, well, it's not so bad.
Slash appeared at the Marshall exhibit around 12:30 p.m. to meet, greet, autograph and promote the AFD100, a recreation of what the promo material says was a "hot-rodded, 100 Watt, pre-master volume model from the early 1970s, this legendary amp was hired specifically for the [Appetite for Destruction

Photog Andrew Youssef had spent Thursday and Friday at NAMM taking pictures, writing up a review and making a master plan for Saturday, the main event. I smartly spent Saturday dutifully following Youssef around.
