No Mic Necessary

Photo by James BunoanThe big question with Long Beach trio the Days End is “when?” When will the full length finally come out (that question goes back to February)? When are they going to play again? When will they call me back? And when will 6-foot-tall lead singer Rob Sammelius begin his modeling career? Guitarist Mike Garcia wanted “6-foot-tall lead singer” in there because Rob hates being called the lead singer and he hates it even more when people say he's tall and good-looking. He and Garcia share the vocal duties, oftentimes forgoing microphone amplification in favor of just screaming over the guitars. “We'll use a mic, if they're there,” Garcia says, like it's no big deal. He promises the self-titled full length will finally be available Sept. 22—this after the band had six previous recordings erased, lost or destroyed. The eight tracks will appease anyone with an ear for the Dischord back catalog, or anyone who is a fan of passionate rock bouncing so hard off itself that it needs no bass. And they're playing Saturday at the SolArt Caf. As for anything else, you gotta ask them yourself.
