Jonathan Huynh, the Mission Viejo 22-year-old a jury–after less than two hours of deliberations–found guilty last month of strangling and stabbing his girlfriend, has been sentenced to 26 years to life in prison.
Huynh was convicted Sept. 15 of first-degree murder in last year's slaying of Kate Su Yi, a 20-year-old Cal State Long Beach student who was in the process of breaking up with him.

Yi's body was found on April 2, 2009, inside a closet in her apartment
in the 700 block of Bellflower Boulevard in Long Beach, near the
veterans hospital.
She had been strangled and stabbed three times in the back of the head and neck three days earlier, according to prosecutors.
Huynh, who formerly attended Trabuco Hills High School, was arrested two days after Yi's body was discovered.
