Brooklyn-based piano/drums duo Matt N Kim earned significant national attention last year the old-fashioned way — taking off their clothes and filming it, in their video for “Lessons Learned.” Stripping in the middle of Times Square showed plenty of courage and lot of flesh, but there’s more to Matt N Kim than a willingness to show off their junk in public. Their 2009 record Grand was chockablock full of snappy songs — like the “you’ve heard it even if you don’t know you’ve heard it” “Daylight” — that led to appearances at just about every major music festival over the last 12 months. They’re doing it again, with follow-up Sidewalks set for November — first single “Cameras” changes things up slightly with a spacey, synth-y vibe.
