Kansas City Barbecue Competition
The ultimate road trip? How does barbecue, beer and live bands sound? (No shit, beats the crap out of quilting conventions.) Cruise around this beautiful country of ours, taking in all the Kansas City Barbecue Society contests you can in one year and you’ll be busy—there are more than 400, coast to coast. Anaheim’s Phoenix Club is hosting some 50 pro teams, competing for more than $10,000 in cash and prizes. There’s a beer and wine garden, arts and crafts, a kids’ zone and OC’s own Desperado, “the premier Eagles tribute band.” KCBS’s roster of teams includes 2 Fat Drunks Cookin’, A Nightmare on Swine Street and Aporkalips Now. Jesus, we love the smell of ‘cue in the morning.
