Hot to Trot
The Harlem Globetrotters have been circumnavigating the Earth since the Coolidge administration but-strangely enough, given their name-originated on the south side of Chicago. In fact, it was more than 40 years before they ever took a shot in Harlem. Instantly recognized by their theme tune, "Sweet Georgia Brown"-no doubt the "Welcome to the Jungle" of its time-the Globetrotters have counted basketball legends Wilt the Stilt and Connie Hawkins as members of their squad. While occasionally derided for their clowning, it's hard to ignore a team that has won more than 22,000 games. And how can you fault an organization that boasts Henry Kissinger, Pope John Paul II and Whoopi Goldberg as honorary members? Join the Globetrotters this Saturday as they shame another hapless opponent. This must surely be a safer bet than the Patriots. Right? Right?
