Horns of
a Dilemma

Hard as it might be for Americans to believe (though the French were well-aware), the nation of Vietnam existed for a long time prior to our involvement in the war. Buffalo Boy takes a look at agrarian life in '40s-era Vietnam, telling the story of a young man who sets out to find grass for his family's two starving buffalo. In the process, he aligns himself with a group of vagabond buffalo herders and discovers that there is potentially a lot more to life than tending farm animals-for better or worse. Buffalo Boy is screening as part of the Bowers Museum's “Viet Film Wave” series, which presents films from the country Nixon wished never existed.
