Legendary composer George Gershwin is resurrected in this Ovation-award-winning musical portrait by the onetime “first husband” of Canada, Hershey Felder (he’s married to the former prime minister, you see). Focusing on Gershwin’s extensive repertoire—which includes “Rhapsody in Blue,” “Fascinating Rhythm” and “Summertime” (from the premier African-American folk-opera Porgy and Bess )—the show also takes an extensive look at Gershwin’s early life, long-term affair with composer Kay Swift and his untimely death at age 38. A must-see show for the true music aficionado, as well as those who aspire to become one.
