Bonnets Off

Named for the traditional Amish practice of allowing their adolescents the chance to experience American culture before deciding whether or not to remain in the church, Los Angeles' Rumspringa have been steadily attracting fans. “Shake ‘em Loose Tonight,” the opening track of their self-titled EP features some lovely fluid guitar work over which Joey Stevens croons, sounding a bit like Devendra Banhart singing with Cold War Kids. The rest of the album mines similar stylistic influences, blending no-nonsense drum work, agile menacing blues-rock guitar and warbling lead vocals. Rumspringa steams up the small stage at Detroit Bar, appearing as openers for Monday night residents Bloodcat Love.
