Whenever music cable channels compile “one-hit wonder” lists, they always include New Jersey-born Dramarama. Plopped alongside acts like Kajagoogoo and Gary Numan, Dramarama is, in fact, the one of these things that is not like the others. Yes, the band had one terribly recognizable, terribly good single, “Anything, Anything (I’ll Give You),” but the rest of the material on their 1985 LP Cinema Verite —a release that has been called the greatest ‘80s album no one ever heard—is equally hooky and brilliant. Check them out this weekend and hear what you’ve been missing.
