A singer, rapper, and songwriter, Lauryn Hill made it big as a member of the Fugees and for her critically acclaimed solo album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. Her distinctively smoky and soulful voice has drawn dedicated listeners to her for almost two decades (yes, Miseducation was released that long ago). This past year, she contributed her vocals to six tracks for the soundtrack of What Happened, Miss Simone?, a documentary about Nina Simone. Like Miss Simone, MS Hill has, arguably, left a definitive imprint on the neo soul genre, yes, but also American music at large. And if there’s another thing the two musicians have in common, it’s that their shows will leave you “feeling good.”.
