Jeff Edward Reece Accused of Live Streaming Bomb Making on Facebook

A 34-year-old man pleaded not guilty last week to making a bomb in his Anaheim mobile home while streaming on Facebook Live.

Jeff Edward Reece is charged with felony possession of an explosive, possession of a destructive device in a private habitation and attempted arson of an inhabited property, with a sentencing enhancement for a prior felony conviction for assault in 2011 in Oregon.

Around 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 28, Reece made threats and turned on his stove burners, filling his mobile home with gas, while streaming video of the event on Facebook Live, alleges the Orange County District Attorney's office.

The stunt prompted a call to dispatchers from a concerned person, and officers who responded to Reece's Coronet Avenue residence evacuated neighboring mobile homes, Anaheim Police say.

But Reece kept streaming on Facebook Live as he made a Molotov cocktail, prosecutors say.

He was apprehended after two hours of negotiations with cops, who later took Reece to be treated at a nearby hospital.

Reece was arrested on Nov. 2.

He's due back in court Nov. 15 for a pretrial hearing.
