Southern California is the place where surf culture was basically invented, nurtured, and adapted over the years in multiple shapes and forms, into its own rugged mythos still preserved today. Through art, that mythos was shaped by artists like Rick Griffin, John Severson and Mike Salisbury, who have gone and influenced contemporaries artists like Thomas Campbell, Andy Davis, Tyler Warren and Julie Goldstein, all included in Artists Repubic 4 Tomorrow gallery's Expression Session 3. The third in a series of shows dedicated to documenting artist depictions of surf culture and surf-related art, Expression Session 3 views current artists continuing the movement and plotting its future. See for yourself what waves surf artists are making today.
Sat., Oct. 3, 6 p.m.; Wednesdays-Sundays, noon. Starts: Oct. 3. Continues through Nov. 15, 2015
