The set-up to this cheeky farce is so typically '60s it might as well have had its characters dancing the Watusi. Enter Bernard, a lothario living in a Parisian apartment and engaged to three beautiful stewardesses at once—Gabriella, Gloria and Gretchen— unbeknownst to each other. Everything seems to be smooth sailing for Bernard, until a surprise visit from his childhood friend Robert interrupts Bernard's social life, and the development of a new and speedier Boeing plane brings all three stewardesses in town in a timely fashion, with Bernard losing track of which lies to tell which fiancée, then of course, situational chaos ensues. Written in 1960 originally for French theater audiences by Marc Carmoletti, it was translated to English and remains the most performed French play in the world.
