On Friday, Orange County sheriff's investigators were contacted by the girl's parents, who indicated they discovered several inappropriate text messages on their daughter's phone. That's inappropriate as in sexual in nature, according to Lt. Jeff Hallock, the sheriff's spokesman.

The investigation of Verducci continued over the weekend before the 25-year-old was arrested in front of his Irvine home on suspicion of child annoyance and sexual communication with a known minor online.

He was booked into Orange County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail, and he is due in court today, Hallock said.

Verducci, who was hired in August, was placed on unpaid leave Monday when Capistrano Unified School District officials were notified of the arrest, according to spokesman Ryan Burris, who added all students and their families were notified of the arrest and counselors were being made available if necessary.
