Night Terrors of 1927

When two members of great indie rock bands come together, expect interesting things to come of it. That’s the story of The Honorary Title’s Jarrod Gorbel and Rilo Kiley’s Blake Sennett, who make up the indie rock/pop machine called Night Terrors of 1927. Contrary to their dark name, the duo produces synth-heavy, 1980s-influenced numbers evident on their debut album Everything’s Coming Up Roses. Of the album’s 11 tracks, “When You Were Mine”—a melodic and catchy pop song featuring Tegan and Sara—is the most popular, followed by the slower and more emotional “Always Take You Back.” The entire album, in fact, switches from high-tempo to low-tempo throughout, bringing the listener on a roller coaster ride full of good vibes and quiet contemplation.
