Randy Lee Parkerson Gets 15 to Life for Choking Out LGBT Activist Zoriada Reyes

Orange County transgender and immigration activist Zoriada Reyes’ murderer was sentenced today to 15 years to life in state prison.

Randy Lee Parkerson, 40, of Anaheim, was found guilty by a jury May 17 of felony second degree murder.

At today’s sentencing hearing, a 28-year-old friend of the victim (born Cesar Reyes) delivered an impact statement under Marsy’s Law that described the emotional impact Zoriada’s death has had and how it “took a light from the LGBT community,” according to an Orange County District Attorney’s office statement.

Parkerson had met for sex on June 10, 2014, with Reyes and murdered her via choking.

Parkerson then placed her body in the trunk of his car, left her there for two days and then dumped the corpse behind an Anaheim Dairy Queen.

Cops arrested Parkerson on Oct. 7, 2014.

Senior Deputy District Attorney Stephen McGreevy of the Homicide Unit prosecuted this case.
