The Other Bong Drops as Supervisors Formally Ban Medical Marijuana Shops in Unincorporated OC

As expected, the Orange County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to formally ban
medical marijuana dispensaries, pot-delivery services and any sale or distribution of cannabis within unincorporated Orange County.

As with the preliminary hearing on the ordinance, Supervisor Shawn Nelson cast the lone dissenting vote.

At that time, Nelson's fellow Supe, John Moorlach, made the let-them-eat-pot-brownies statement of the year, suggesting medical marijuana patients simply cross the Orange County border into Long Beach to get meds.

Violators of the ban will face fines of $1,000 per day.

Laguna Woods is the only city in the county that allows pot clinics, according to county staff. Public Works Director Jess Carbajal wrote in his recommendation to ban dispensaries that allowing them would cause an unfair and unsafe concentration of such businesses in unincorporated OC.
