With a folky acoustic sound and lyrics both droll and tragic, Bobby Joe Ebola leads his band, The Children MacNuggits with such songs as “You Don’t Have to Die Alone” and “She Aint no Crip.” The latter features the lyric “I found a loaded Beretta inside your dresser drawer/ and I found a red bandanna lying on your bedroom floor.” Watching this paunchy punk rocker follow with the lyric “My baby is a blood/ she’s straight out of da hood,” would bring a smile to even a man with a funny bone of steel.
