Urban Plates Opens In Irvine Today

If you've been to Tender Greens at the Irvine Spectrum and Lemonade at Fashion Island, you've already got a good idea of what to expect when Urban Plates opens today at 11 a.m. at the Crossroads in Irvine. The yuppie cafeteria concept continues here. Expect such dishes as grass-fed steak, free-range grilled chicken, turkey meatloaf, braises, stews, salads, sides both hot and cold, and cookies and baked goods for dessert.

I've actually been to its original location in San Diego's Del Mar neighborhood. It was, in a word, good.

Urban Plates takes over the space that was long-held by Pizza Hut and its opening follows Creamistry, which also opened recently around the corner.

If you're still unclear or otherwise unfamiliar with the concept, the restaurant has this handy dandy YouTube video that should tell you all you need to know.

You can find Urban Plates at the Crossroads Shopping Center at the corner of Barranca N Culver in Irvine.
