The Pacific Symphony pairs up with the Segerstrom Center for a night of exemplary cinema backed by a live classical concert serving up the soundtrack. Past screenings include the masterly creepy 1925 Phantom of the Opera, but for this session? The selection couldn't be any more joyous. 1952's Singin' in the Rain, starring Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds, crisply remastered and projected onto a giant screen, featuring the talents of the Pacific Symphony as its musical accoutrement. Bonus: the screening is formally introduced by Patricia Kelly (as in Mrs. Gene), and includes a post-concert discussion following the film with both Mrs. Kelly and Principal Pops Conductor Richard Kaufman.
