Obon is the annual Japanese Buddhist commemoration of one's ancestors. The festival held at the OCBC on July 17 features a market to purchase food, plants and produce, games, a taiko drum performance and a Bon Odori group dance around a Yagura (tower). Other Obon gatherings will take place across Southern California across the next few weeks (see photos for schedule.) People came from other Buddhist temples including Downtown LA, South Central LA, West LA, Long Beach, Oxnard, Pasadena, San Diego, San Fernando, Norwalk, San Gabriel Valley, West Covina, Gardena, San Francisco and Tucson, AZ.
