Still don't have plans? Check out these food events.
What: Featured items this time around include scallop stew buns, crab bento boxes, shrimp croquettes and ramen with three types of miso. Have you canceled your dinner plans yet?
When: Fri.-Sun., 11 a.m.-7:30 p.m.
What: Thirty restaurants offer samplers of everything from barbecue seared ahi and tiramisu to prime rib and crème brulee. There'll be booze, music and an ABBA concert, too.
When: Fri., 6-11 p.m.; Sat., 4-11 p.m.; Sun., 12-8 p.m.
What: The Phoenix Club arguably puts on the most authentic Oktoberfest in Southern California. As for the food, think beyond pretzels and brats. They've got items like weisswurst, Strassburger wurstsalat, Bavarian-style potato salad, and, of course, plenty of German beer.
When: Fri., 6 p.m.-12 a.m.; Sat., 1 p.m.-12 a.m.; Sun., 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
Cost: Free (this weekend only)
What: The airy, meringue-like pastries make their debut at OC Wine Mart. Sample the pretty French confections, then wash them down with some wine and maybe a Lobsticle from Slapfish Truck, which will be parked outside.
When: Sat., 12-7 p.m.
Cost: Free macaron sampling. Wine tasting is $10.
What: KCRW's third-annual pie bake-off. This event requires a trek to LA, but it's worth it because 1) pie! 2) our own Forker Dave Lieberman is a judge and 3) pie! While it's too late to enter pies, it's definitely not too late to eat them.
When: Sun., 2-4 p.m.
