This Week In Food: Playground's 2.0 Collaborative, Rathskeller Closing, and Tulsa Rib Opening

Happy Friday ladies and germs, let's take a look at what this week in food brought us…

Edwin went to the new ARC Restaurant in the OC Mix and while he believes they still have kinks to work out, it seems the place is coming along well. He told us that the CEO of Starbucks is now the protagonist in a new comic book. Then he wrote about Ikea's scare with their almond cakes being contaminated with, gasp, poop! And last, because we don't want to end on a foul note, Edwin told us about Playground's new pop-up project, 2.0 Collaborative, that will rotate different inspirational and upcoming chefs.

Gustavo went to Tony's Deli in Anaheim for Hole in the Wall and scarfed up their yummy, giant, and tried-and-true sandwiches. Then he named the bloody mary at the Back Bay Tavern at the Whole Foods Market in Newport Beach as the drink of the week. Sadly, he then told us that Rathskeller Pub in Huntington Beach's Old World Village will be closing their doors after 35 years.

Anne Marie interviewed celebrity chef Aaron Sanchez, and then talked to Alfonso Ramirez of Pinot Provence for her On The Line column. There's also two exciting openings happening tonight: Anne Marie shared the grand opening of Tulsa Rib Company's new location, and Dave announced the opening of Bootlegger's Brewery new location.

Sarah had her Long Beach Lunch at Sal's Gumbo Shack. Taylor, our web intern, told us to try the Ippo Roll from Ippo Sushi's delivery service in Irvine. Gabriel San Roman told us about a Middle Eastern store in Little Arabia that pulled Sabra brand hummus from their shelves after activists complained that the company supports the Israeli Military. And last, the return Bill writing for Tijuana Sí! brought us a story on Chef Javier Plascenia's own taqueria.
