Savory Spice Shop Opens at Costa Mesa's OC Mart Mix

Just in time for the holidays, Savory Spice Shop has opened its second location, inside the OC Mart Mix at the SoCo Collection off the 405 freeway. The original branch of the chain has been open for a couple of years in Corona del Mar Plaza, where people whose cars cost as much as my house browse the fragrant wares.

As you might expect, real estate is at a premium in the OC Mart Mix,
so the Savory Spice Shop in Corona del Mar is larger than its younger
sister, but owners Laura Shute and Randy Morton have managed to shoehorn
a good selection of both individual spices and spice blends into the space. The signs advertise spices ground weekly–but take it from
us here at SaFII, you want to buy your spices whole and grind them as
you need them.

It definitely beats the slog up to Torrance or Santa Monica to Penzeys,
that's for sure–and you can head over to Portola for a caffeine fix
after you get your spices. Pssst: Laura and Randy, inland OC needs some
spice love too, please.
