Lola Gaspar Starts Expanded Happy Hour THIS WEEK

Downtown Santa Ana's Lola Gaspar is one of my favorite places to go, but I'm not afraid to share its short comings: It gets crowded super quickly, it's hard for people to find, it's tacos are on the smaller side and there's basically no happy hour.

Well, starting this week, that last complaint is more or less moot, as Lola's debuting its new, expanded, and, in my opinion, very, very good happy hour. What's on deck? More hours, tacos, dates, booze, and (American) football (Complete with a Sunday tailgate).

Lola's new happy hour menu will run Monday to Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and feature their storied bacon-wrapped dates or a salad for $5 as well as a pair of prawn, barbacoa, carnitas, or avocado tacos also for $5, a good maybe 60 percent of what you'd normally pay during regular hours.

In addition to that menu, there will also be more specials on Mondays (all night happy hour and two-for-one pints of Honey Orange or IPA), Tuesdays ($1 pork tacos, $2 cans of Victoria), and Sundays (tailgate barbecue from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.).

I'll take this occasion to mention that Lola's one of the few places actually open in downtown on a Monday, so if you have a particularly hard day at work tomorrow, you know where to go.
