National Same-Sex Kiss Day is underway at Chick-Fil-A, and photo evidence
of the lip-action is coming in. Yep, we're seeing lots of girl-on-girl and boy-on-boy smooching (and some major tongue hockey--whoa
, there) all in the name of marriage equality.
One photo, though, is particularly refreshing. In it, Rev. Sarah Halverson
, the pastor at Fairview Community Church
in Costa Mesa, gets a kiss on the cheek from her secretary, Cindy, while standing in front of a local Chick-Fil-A and holding up a rainbow-adorned sign. Halverson has long been an advocate for the LGBT community. She says she believes "God supports and blesses all marriages." The church welcomes those of all sexual orientations.
"It's heartbreakingly sad to see people using the Bible and Christian rhetoric to make people feel like they don't belong in God's House," the pastor says.
The chicken sandwich chain has been the center of a heated saga, further polarizing America on the issue of gay marriage.
"Our dollar is our strongest vote," she says. "We're about putting our money into the things we believe in."
