William Wallace Indicted for Christmas Day Murder of Wife Zazell Preston with Kids Present
The grand jury today indicted William Wallace for the murder of his wife Zazell Preston, who was whacked in the head with blunt force last Christmas in their Anaheim apartment while their 7-week-old baby and her two young children from a previous relationship were present.
Wallace, 30, is charged with one felony count of murder and he could get 25 years to life in state prison with a conviction.
Preston was rendered unconscious by the strong blow to her head sometime between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Wallace called 9-1-1 around 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 25, to report Preston was in need of medical attention at their apartment in the 200 block of Laxore Street.
Officers found her unresponsive in her bed and rushed her to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Wallace was questioned at the Anaheim Police station later that night and booked into the city jail on suspicion of murder. He is currently being held on $1 million bail and has an arraignment hearing on the indictment scheduled Friday morning in Santa Ana.
