Where Can You Go to Get Your Potter On Tonight? Everywhere! Want 3D, D-BOX and a Beer With That?
Has there ever been a franchise-ending movie more hyped than Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows: Part II? I mean, since Steve Martin killed the Pink Panther franchise? (It is dead, isn't it? Please tell me so.)
Starting at 11:59 tonight and continuing about every minute through 1 a.m. Friday, there is theater somewhere in Orange County screening the final installment based on the J.K. Rowling books. These special showings, many in 3D, pick up their regular slots later Friday.

*For the regular run, the Downtown Disney theater will show parts I and II as a double feature, starting Friday at 9 p.m.
**UltraLuxe at Anaheim GardenWalk is the only Orange County theater where you can experience Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 in D-BOX motion seats. Currently facing only 92 commercial movie screens in the world, D-BOX seats are programmed with a special motion track that moves one's seat in sync with the onscreen action. There are three settings, from low to high, you control from your seat. An extra charge applies; check the theater for details.
Of course, what's got me in more excited at UltraLuxe, which is on the upper level of GardenWalk at 321 W. Katella Ave., Anaheim, is the free parking for 4 hours provided with validation at the movie theater! Ha! Who am I kidding? What's got me giddy with delight is Friday's launch of BEER AND WINE SERVICE!!!
I've been waiting for this since UltraStar took over the swanky theater last year, ladies and germs. Unfortunately, the beverage license transfer took longer than expected for the broke state to process. Anyway, starting Friday, beer and wine will be available at the theater's Cinema Café, which also serves 10 kinds of paninis, quesadillas and nachos, pizzas, edamame, hummus, cheesecake, dessert shots and specialty coffees. There is table service in the theater's LuxeLounge, whose floor-to-ceiling windows face the nightly Disneyland fireworks, or if you're over 21 an lucky enough to be in a Star-Class auditorium, you can have your beer and wine (or any of the other menu items) brought to your seat.
I'll never leave! A little liquid sunshine will not only make Potter better but maybe even another Pink Panther flick bearable.
