Update: Gilles Joseph Pierre Lapointe--the 61-year-old pilot who pleaded guilty in July to possession with intent to distribute MDMA--was sentenced this week to six years in federal prison. The Canadian also agreed to forfeit his amphibious single-engine aircraft, which authorities tracked from Las Vegas to John Wayne Airport on Oct. 9, 2014, because they believed it had previously been used for drug trafficking. With the help of drug-sniffing dogs at the airport, officers searched luggage that had been aboard the plane and found 50,000 ecstasy pills and about 90 pounds of MDMA powder used to make "E" and Molly. As for the aspiring Playboy model mentioned in the headline above, she ultimately was not charged, according to federal prosecutors.
Update: A jury this week found Kelly Michele Wolfe guilty of murdering an elderly woman and injuring her grandson in a hit-and-run crash on the Fourth of July in San Clemente. Behind the wheel of a Volkswagen van, Wolfe ran over Marthann Demchuk, 76, and her then 13-year-old blind grandson Mason, who were observing fireworks around 8:30 p.m. on July 4, 2013, when the driver fled the scene. The grandmother later died but the boy survived his injuries. An Orange County Sheriff's Department (OCSD) investigation led deputies to 46-year-old Wolfe's driveway in Capistrano Beach. Because she had a prior DUI conviction from Nevada, completed a DUI class, attended a victim-impact panel and been informed she could be charged with murder if she killed a person while driving under the influence as she renewed her California driver's license, OC prosecutors were able to charge her with felony murder. Wolfe faces 18 years to life in state prison at sentencing set for Nov. 20.
Story: Road For Disneyland-Area Pimp Of Minor Girls Wasn't Easy For LA Rapper Curtis Canady
The Canady man can't.
Update: Curtis Maurice Canady was sentenced Friday to five years in state prison and mandatory lifetime sex offender registration for human trafficking and pandering two minors and attempting to pimp a third teenage girl, according to the Orange County District Attorney's office (OCDA). The 21-year-old Los Angeles resident had pleaded guilty to felony human trafficking for bringing girls ages 15, 16 and 19 to the area around Disneyland in Anaheim in July 2013 to turn tricks. Unfortunately for him, two of their johns turned out to be undercover Anaheim Police Department officers, and Canady was arrested on July 25, 2013, as part of the FBI's Operation Cross Country large-scale human trafficking sweep.
