A Huntington Beach woman who says a police officer ran a red light and smashed into her car has filed a claim seeking an unspecified payout from her city.
Filed March 30, Sunny Kang's claim is perceived to be the first step before a lawsuit seeking more than $25,000 in filed in Superior Court.

According to the Orange County Register, Kang claims she was driving north on Newland Street and crossing through a green light at Atlanta Street, where the cop car ran the red, entered the intersection and “violently slammed” into her car.
Kang claims she suffered injuries to her neck, head, left leg and right hip.
The city is reportedly reviewing the claim, which does not indicate whether the officer's lights and/or siren were on when the patrol car entered the intersection.
