The Costa Mesa Police Department is running a DUI checkpoint Saturday night.
As is agency policy, the location of the operation is not being released.
Wherever it is, it's scheduled to run from 8 p.m. through 2 a.m. Sunday.

All drivers who pass through will be checked for signs of boozing, drugging or being without a valid license.
Why?
“Over the course of the past three years in Costa Mesa, 535 DUI collisions have claimed nine lives and resulted in 164 injury crashes, harming 231 of our friends and neighbors,” David Makiyama, a Costa Mesa traffic sergeant, says in a department announcement. “We arrested over 2,700 DUIs during those three years.”
Many of those popped spent up to $10,000 untangling themselves from the ensuing legal shitstorm, the cop shop says in a much less colorful way.
As with stops and other anti-DUI enforcement by other Orange County departments, funding for Saturday night's operation is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
