Peter Herzog, Lake Forest's Drunk Driver City Councilman, Gets Probation, Fines, Classes

I was out for four days looking for Easter eggs in Arizona, so I'm catching up on some stuff related to cases we've tracked here while gazing our navels (ouch!).

Lake Forest City Councilman Peter Alan Herzog pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol content of .18 percent, more than twice the legal limit.

The 57-year-old was sentenced last to, as the Orange County District Attorney's office out it, “first time standard minimum DUI probations of three years of informal probation, fines, and [he is] required to participate in a 3-month first offender alcohol program.”

Hope that won't conflict with his Lake Forest council meetings exploring the intricacies of CC and Rs.

By the way, he blew that twice the legal limit two hours after driving on the wrong side of Lake Forest Drive, hoping over the center median to get back on to the westbound lanes, hitting the right side of the Regency Lane curb after making the turn too wide from Lake Forest Drive, crossing into the opposing lane of traffic and swerving back and forth across lanes until he arrived at his home.

The is all known because freaked-out motorists followed Herzog home and then called the Orange County Sheriff's Department, which eventually arrested the pot clinic-banning city's former mayor.
