What federal authorities called a "six-year crime spree" for a 30-year-old Orange County businessman ended this week in San Diego when a federal judge sentenced him to spend the next 30 years in prison.
Get-rich-seminar host Thanh Viet "Jeremy" Cao of Rancho Santa Margarita drove around in a $200,000 Bentley as a prop in his Ponzi schemes that stole more than $12 million from 200 people, according to federal prosecutors.
Authorities in Orange County had previously convicted Cao on extortion charges after he threatened to kill a business associate's family if the man didn't pay him money.
Next, Cao--who continues to insist he is a victim of an unidentified swindler himself--faces charges in Nevada.
