Make it 17 ski seasons in a row for Mountain High.
The Wrightwood area resort announced Saturday it received 12 inches of fresh snow from the recent storm that, combined with man-made stuff it's been making as conditions permitted, allowed for an 8 a.m. opening today and bragging rights for being the first Southern California resort to open for 17 years straight.
Up in Big Bear, Snow Summit also boasted of receiving new snow but, like every other SoCal resort that is not named Mountain High, no opening date has been set yet.

"Last night we received another 2-4 inches of fresh snow plus nearly 20 hours of snowmaking," Summit officials announced Saturday. "Things are starting to warm up now and the sun is peaking through the clouds in different parts of the valley. The forecast is now predicting more snow to come later in the week for Thanksgiving.
"With conditions like this we could be opening soon, but have no set opening date at this time."
The story is identical at Summit's sister resort Bear Mountain, with the only difference being they "have continued to make snow while conditions permit," according to its Saturday update. No opening date there or down the highway in Running Springs, where Snow Valley simply reports "opening soon."
"We have received 3" to 5" of snow over the past two days with cold temps making for good snow making weather," Mt. Baldy officials revealed Saturday. "The forecast calls for scattered snow showers through out the day as well as good snow making conditions for the next 24 hours."
The area is open today--just not for skiing or snowboarding.
"We are open today and tomorrow for scenic rides to the Top of the Notch restaurant and plan to open for snow tubing on Thanksgiving Day," Baldy announced Saturday. "More snow is forecast for the holiday weekend and if things pan out we could be skiing and snowboarding in early December."
