Mother and Son Held in Front-Yard Murder; 19-Year-Old Shooting Suspect Still Free

A mother and son have been arrested in the murder of a 31-year-old woman in Garden Grove, but police add they have not yet apprehended the suspected 19-year-old shooter.

“Garden Grove Police investigators developed information that lead to the arrest of” Sandy Cisneros Liscano, 44, and Adrian Gabriel Liscano, 19, around 9 p.m. Thursday in the 13300 block of Stephens Street in Garden Grove, according to police Lt. Bob Bogue.

“An additional suspect only being described as a male Hispanic, 19 years old, is believed to be the shooter and is not in custody,” Bogue added. “That suspect's name is not being released at this time as investigators are developing that information. The handgun used in the crime has not been recovered.”

As the Weekly previously reported, Kellie Louise Nichol of Trabuco Canyon was found shot dead in the front yard of a home in the 13500 block of Purdy Street shortly before 2:30 a.m. Thursday. A neighbor said he awoke to three gunshots and kids down the street yelling, “What'd you do, man, what'd you do?” and “Yo'd better get out of here.”

Both Liscanos were booked into the Orange County Jail on suspicion of murder in lieu of $1 million bail each, Bogue said.
