A letter to parents from the district superintendent today--followed by police confirmation--indicates that Brea Olinda High School's 2009 teacher of the year was arrested Wednesday evening for allegedly having sex with one of her male students.
Math instructor Michelle Lynn Johnson, 45, was taken into custody at her Anaheim home, Brea police Sgt. Jim Griffin said.
The student's father called police Wednesday, and Johnson was arrested after being questioned, according to Griffin, who declined to provide City News Service with the alleged victim's age or details on how the dad discovered the allegations.
Johnson, who was booked on suspicion of unlawful sex with a minor, was released from custody after posting $20,000 bail, Griffin said.
Police are still gathering information, and anyone who can help is asked to call Detective Debbie Stark at 714.990.7638.
We do know this about the suspect: she has taught at Brea Olinda High School for eight years and is now on paid administrative leave, according to Brea Olinda Unified School District Superintendent Skip Roland, who added that will become unpaid leave if charges are filed against the employee.
