Look for Lake Forest DUI Checkpoint TONIGHT
Deputies will put signs like this up somewhere in Lake Forest tonight.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department announced this morning that it is conducting a DUI/drivers license checkpoint from 6 tonight through 3 a.m. Saturday in Lake Forest. But where in the land of few lakes and forests?
Beats the hell out of me. Think of it as a surprise. Like crabs!
Why hold one? The sheriff's Traffic Bureau says DUI collisions have claimed 21 lives and resulted in 497 injuries over the past three years within its coverage area. Deputies also point to state data showing 90 percent of Californians approve of checkpoints and that for every buck spent on anti-DUI operations, society saves $6.
Funding for the op comes from the California Office of Traffic Safety--hey, the same entity that provided that state data a paragraph ago--through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
