ORIGINAL POST, AUG. 27, 8:36 A.M.: A Capistrano Beach woman faces arraignment Thursday on a murder rap, other serious felonies and a misdemeanor in the Fourth of July 2013 killing of a 76-year-old woman who was struck by a vehicle while walking with her grandson along a San Clemente bike trail.

Kelly Michele Wolfe fled the scene of the collision that night but was later detained outside her residence, according to Lt. Jeff Hallock, spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff's Department (OCSD).

Wolfe's blood-alcohol that night measured at 0.31 percent, claims Deputy District Attorney Stephen Cornwell, the prosecutor in the case.

However, the 46-year-old suspect was not arrested until Tuesday--as in yesterday.

Marthann Demchuk of Monrovia was fatally struck while walking with her 13-year-old grandson along El Camino Real just south of Camino Capistrano.

Wolfe is charged with second-degree murder, hit and run causing a permanent and serious injury, driving under the influence of alcohol with injury, driving with a blood-alcohol level of more than 0.08 percent and failing to yield to a visually handicapped pedestrian--all felonies. She also faces a misdemeanor charge of driving without a valid driver's license.

UPDATE, AUG. 27, 4:58 P.M.: Conviction on the charges against Kelly Michele Wolfe could send her to state prison for up to 16 years and 8 months to life, the Orange County District Attorney's office (OCDA) just announced.

Prosecutors say they will seek $1 million bail at her arraignment scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday in Santa Ana.
