Jarrid Thomas Baldogo, Tennis Instructor, Gets a Year for Sex Acts with 13 y.o. Boy
A 29-year-old tennis instructor pleaded guilty Thursday to committing lewd acts on a 13-year-old male student in Irvine and was immediately sentenced to a year in jail.
Jarrid Thomas Baldogo of Irvine pleaded guilty to eight felony counts of committing a lewd act on a child younger than 14, and besides the jail time he received five years probation and an order to register as a sex offender for life.
If Baldogo violates his probation, he will be subject to 22 years in state prison, according to Orange County Deputy District Attorney Bobby Taghavi, who explained to City News Service that the boy's family wanted the matter resolved quickly and without going to trial.
A private tennis instructor specializing in ages 4 to 18, Baldogo worked for the Woodbridge Village Association in Irvine as well as in Los Angeles County at Westchester High School and Manhattan Country Club. He was hired to coach the boy in November 2012 and sexually assaulted the lad eight times in his car and apartment between December of last year and May, when he was arrested.
If Baldogo plans to resume his instructing career once he's released from custody, it will be problematic at courts in Orange County parks that are covered by Child Safety Zones that ban sex offenders, including those in his town of Irvine.
