How would you like to start out the new year with old money? A new study finds Orange County is one of the top counties in the nation with unclaimed funds.

Orange County, which finishes No. 9 on the list with $519,982,055 in unclaimed property, is sandwiched between No. 8 Kings County, New York, and No. 10 San Diego, according to SmartAsset.com.

"That's enough to pay one month's rent on 26,357 Orange County apartments," says SmartAsset's Asees Singh of the County of Orange's total.

Topping the SmartAsset list is Los Angeles County with $3,887,525,183 in unclaimed funds.
