Have you seen Javier Luis Cervantes? Santa Ana Police are looking for the 24-year-old following Wednesday's early morning sexual assault and repeated stabbing of his estranged wife. The unidentified woman had returned to her apartment in the 1600 block of Parton Street to put her children, ages 6 and 7, to bed. Moving to another room around 2 a.m., she was confronted by Cervantes, who had been lying in wait, according to Cpl. Anthony Bertagna, the Santa Ana Police spokesman.

The mother was sexually assaulted and stabbed in the abdomen multiple times with a knife, causing injuries and severe bleeding, but she still managed to escape the apartment and call police, Bertagna said.
Cervantes is accused of fleeing before police arrived, stealing his estranged wife's 2013 silver Ford Edge (license plate number 6WPY897). Bertagna reports the children were unharmed and their mother was taken to a local hospital that listed her in stable condition with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
