I usually don't like to tell people what our coming cover stories are (unless you're my Facebook friend, in which case I like to post pictures of layouts of especially hilarious features), but I can tell ustedes that this coming Thursday will be a doozy: a profile of Ace Hoffman, the legendary activist who has long tried to have the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station closed down. The facility has been in the news a lot since it shut down temporarily last year, and it was the subject of my latest "Orange County Line" for KCRW-FM 89.9 yesterday.
Check out the part in which I tried to allude to the fact that San Onofre's domes resemble breasts. I actually made the explicit reference, but KCRW host Steve Chiotakis then brought up its legendary cameo inThe Naked Gun
, at which point we digressed mightily in merriment. That segment, alas, ended up on the cutting-room floor--perhaps for the better. Enjoy!
